in 1948 the vinyl record was introduced and set the standard of audio recordings; however, today they’re mostly considered to be an out dated item. People tend to treat them as collectors items or keep using them because they are complete analog. Most people though treat them as old junk. There are other uses for these records that not many people know and it can become a favorite for those who love music.
This process will make your vinyl record unusable so I would recommend then do this on a one that you have multiples of or one that you are willing to let go.
With these records you can make many different things such as a letter holder, a magazine holder, a wall holster, an outlet cover plate and even a wine rack.
Ill start with showing you how to make a simple letter holder. To do this i would recommend that you use books and a hair dryer. You will want to choose the right size books to get the right size letter opener and you wont have to worry about the books retaining any damage from heat. you will want to use the hair dryer to apply heat to the corners of the record where you will want the record to bend. Below is an example.
Not much heat is needed for the vinyl to start to bend. Make sure that you dont put too much heat in one spot on the record or it will being to distort and melt. I would recommend moving the hair dryer back and forth along the bend of the vinyl record. After the vinyl bends accordingly and it had cooled you will have your finished item!
You many also link them together as you see fit using some nut and bolts or glue.
Beside the letter holder you can make many other items as i listed above…
You can create many things with these old vinyl records and they leave a nice reminder of the past. All they really require is personal creativity and ideas.
