Today we can find computers being use everywhere and we all use them for different things. With this being so, we all end up having so many different cables that are usedĀ for different specific things. I used to find myself spending hours searching for the right type of cable for the right device until I discovered a nifty way to organize my cables. With these ways listed below, I am able to find the right cable in seconds by using junk to organize them.
To being this awesome organization you’ll need leftover blank CD cases from when you went to the store to buy blank CDs. With this empty case you’ll want to wrap your more lengthy cables inside them. I typically use length cables such as CAT5, CAT6, lengthy USB, HDMI, Display Port, 3.5mm audio cable and 1/4-inch audio cable. You may use them for any lengthy cable that you desire. After you have wound your cables inside, its usually a good idea to label them how you see fit.
The next piece will be for your shorter cables that you might have. For this process you will want to find a nice mediumish sized box and the center part of a toilet paper roll or paper towel roll. With these you will want to cut them to your desired length as they will be sitting inside the box that you chose. After that, fold your small cable and slip it inside the roll that you chose. you will want to do this for however many small cables that you might have. After you’re finished, it should look something like the image below. Finally you may label each roll in someway that works well for you.
For the last piece, you will want to keep the currently plugged in cables organized and ready. To do this you will want to use binder clips and clip them to the edge of your desk closest to your computer. After that, take your cable and slip it right through the outer part of the clip. This may require that you use different sized binder clips, depending on the cable’s jack size. This is mainly so you don’t have to reach over and pull the cables off the ground.
I have found this style of organization to be extremely useful and I believe anyone who tries it will agree. Shortly this process will become a habit and you’ll never have trouble finding that cable that you need.
If you have any input on this organization process or other brilliant methods, please let me know!
